On the East side of St. Paul sits a community worthy of being named a village: Villages on McKnight, a community with both the modern touch of the city and the traditional feel of suburban living. Initially constructed in 1969, Villages on McKnight was brought into the Bigos Management portfolio in 2018. Upon acquiring the community, Bigos Management revamped the Clubhouse, bringing additional amenities for residents to enjoy, while keeping much of the community’s charm intact. The mix of residents that have lived there since its inception mingle harmoniously with the new residents, making a village that truly is a sight to behold.
Villages on McKnight has become a new home for many. Whether by reputation, word of mouth, or a simple search on the web, Villages on McKnight quickly becomes a first home, second home, home-between-homes, or a permanent home.
It would be an understatement to say that Villages on McKnight is a large community, and with it comes large apartment layouts worthy of calling home. Typically, other communities nearby provide apartments with an average square footage of 500-600 square feet for one-bedroom apartments, and 800-900 square feet for two-bedroom apartments. In contrast, the one-bedroom apartments at Villages on McKnight start at 711 square feet, and two-bedroom floor plans start at 1034 square feet. Prospective and current residents agree that Villages provides ample space to rest easy and express themselves.
The amenities begin from the moment you step into the Clubhouse, conveniently located in the heart of the community. The Clubhouse offers many reservable spaces, all of which are free for every resident to use. With spring and summer coming into full swing this year, reservations are flooding in for the party rooms, the Club Room and Resident Lounge. The Conference Room is also a hit for residents who like a change of scenery for their workday. Read more about why working from home is better at Bigos Management properties here!
Not looking for a large space to party? The Clubhouse also offers quiet study rooms on a first come, first serve basis for residents to use. These rooms offer a private space to work, study, or relax. Residents just ask one of the on-site staff members in the leasing office during Clubhouse hours to get the key!
One of Villages on McKnight’s most popular features is the two pools located at the Clubhouse! During the renovation in 2019, Villages was able to maintain the outdoor pool, keeping it the largest residential pool within the city limits of St. Paul. Even with an estimated population size of 1,400 residents living at Villages on McKnight, the outdoor pool can take the heat and provide a full day of fun in the sun for everyone. Wintertime? The indoor pool is open year-round, giving residents an experience that is seldom found elsewhere.
Step out across the indoor pool and you will make your way to the state-of-the-art fitness center, which is accessible 24 hours a day! Inside, you’ll find weight machines, stationary bikes, treadmills, a stair master, and an array of free weights to accommodate any workout style. The fitness center is loyally utilized by our residents at all hours of the day. Whether you’re working out to reach fitness goals or just want to take a walk, the fitness center will be there for you when you need it.
Behind the Clubhouse, you’ll find several picnic areas with charcoal grills available for residents to use during the day. Summer barbeques are a community favorite, bringing rich scents of grilled food and lively chatter among friends, family, and neighbors. Villages on McKnight also brings different culinary experiences to the community with weekly food truck visits on Wednesday evenings! Wednesdays quickly have become everyone’s favorite day of the week, with time to enjoy food, meet neighbors, and make new connections within the community.
Among the many ways this community comes together, one of our favorites is on the pickleball court next to the Clubhouse. As late afternoons and nights become warmer, regular groups form on the court, playing game after game and building neighborly bonds that make this Village more than a residential community, but a true neighborhood.
Villages on McKnight also offers a community garden every spring to bring neighbors together in a project that invests in the growth of food, friendships, and horticultural knowledge. Most of the plots are already reserved for the warm planting season, locked in for an incredible season of beautiful flowers, delicious vegetables, and versatile herbs.
Just south of Sun Ray shopping center, right off McKnight Road on the east side of St. Paul stands a Village worthy of the name “Villages on McKnight.” If this community calls your name, come on down and take a tour of our grand community. Join us for the adventures that await!
