The Twin Cities are home to some fantastic restaurants, and its reputation for producing some tasty appetizers, dishes, and beer has made St. Paul a hub for happy hour. While you really can’t go wrong with any happy hour in the area, here are nine of our favorites and their menus, along with some of their most famous happy hour offerings.
1811 Selby Ave
The Blue Door Pub is a staple of the St. Paul food scene and their happy hour is one of the main reasons why. While you can’t snag a deal on one of their famous Blucy burgers, you can get excellent deals on tap beers, as well as their tater tots and wings. For their wings, go with the maple bacon bourbon. And if you still haven’t tried their cajun tots, then you need to make your way over to Blue Door pronto.
18343 St. Clair Ave
If you love Freehouse beer, then you need to hit up Groveland Tap’s happy hour. For $3 you can get any Freehouse Tap, which pairs perfectly with their reasonably priced beer snacks. A great venue for watching sports at the bar or socializing with friends, Groveland is a favorite for young college students in the area, as well as families looking to dine out for an affordable meal.
A “sophisticated twist on the classic neighborhood tavern,” Red Cow is known for their burgers. However, their $7 starters happy hour menu is one of the best in the area. Poutine, scotch eggs, Wisconsin cheese curds, and wings are all found on the menu. Pair your starter with one of their $4 off bottles of wine.
237 East Sixth Street St.
In the summer, the Bulldog Lowertown is a favorite of St. Paul Saints’ fans who are looking to grab a drink and some grub before an evening game, which is a short walk from the restaurant. There best deals can be found on their starters menu, where each item is half-priced.
695 Grand Avenue
With one of the larger happy hour menus, Saji-Ya is the sushi lovers paradise, especially between the hours of 3-6 pm. Whether you’re in the mood for appetizers, sushi, tap beer, or wine, Saji-Ya will have something for everyone and is the perfect post-work happy hour spot.
235 E. 6th St.
Barrio has some of the best guacamole, chips, salsa around and their tacos are a contender for best in St. Paul. A couple of the favorites are their beer battered fish tacos and their pork carnitas taco, which will cost you only $3.50, which is perfect because you will undoubtedly be wanting more than one.
371 Selby Ave.
It doesn’t get much better than three apps for $10, but throw in a $5 Moscow cocktail, and you will for sure enjoy Moscow on the Hill’s “happier hour.” You’d be remiss not to try one of their house infusions and rail vodkas as well. After all, when it Rome (Russia)!
173 Western Ave N
If you’re a fan of fries (and who isn’t?), then you must make your way to Fitzgerald’s on Cathedral Hill for their $5 happy hour fries. Combine them with a $4 Minnesota tap, and you’re well on your way to having a pretty good evening. Named after F. Scott Fitzgerald, who made the area his home before he hit it big, you’ll have nothing but good times at this St. Paul staple.
498 Selby Ave.
